I recently reviewed Gerard Lo Monaco's 'Train journey' pop-up book (ISBN 978-0500651827) and though it was cleverly worked out it only had four actual pop-ups, so a little disappointing. His book on Sonia Delaunay is much more ambitious and in twenty pages he captures the wonderful exuberance of Delauney's work. There are twenty-three paintings revealed (this includes the covers and first inside spread) and most are pop-ups. The inside back cover spread has thumbnails and captions about each work.
A delightful bool for children about this important French artist. Oddly it seems extremely scarce and the very few copies that pop up on the net are alarmingly expensive.
